Nail glue is cyanoacrylate, the same family as superglue, usually with a slightly softer formulation. It bonds in seconds and it bonds skin just as happily as it bonds a tip.
Soak in warm soapy water for ten minutes, then roll the skin apart rather than pulling it. Acetone works faster and dries the skin hard.
Never pull bonded skin apart dry. If fingers are stuck together, warm water and patience separate them without tearing.

Brush-on glue
The easiest to control and the most forgiving to apply.

Nozzle glue
Cheaper and messier. Easy to use too much.

Gel-formula glue
Thicker, slower to set, fills small gaps at the sidewall.

Sticky tabs
Not glue at all. The right choice for one evening.

Brush-on with a wide brush
Covers the whole nail plate in one pass, which improves the bond.

Repair glue with fibre
Contains fibres to bridge a crack. Genuinely useful.

Silk wrap and glue
A patch over a split, sealed with glue. The proper fix for a torn nail.

Tip glue
For attaching plastic tips before acrylic goes over the top.

Glue for charms
Weak. Charms are better encapsulated under gel.

Glue on a lifted gel edge
It seals moisture and bacteria under the lift. Have it removed instead.

Glue on a broken natural nail
Works as a short-term splint. Not a long-term plan.

Glue as a base coat
It happens online. It bonds polish to the nail plate and comes off in sheets.
Making a bond last
- Buff the shine off the nail plate and wipe with rubbing alcohol. Glue will not bond through natural oil.
- A thin layer on the nail and a thin layer in the tip. Too much glue squeezes out and weakens the join.
- Press for a full thirty seconds. It feels absurd and it roughly doubles the wear.
- Keep water off it for an hour.
For applying and removing a full set, press-on nails covers the whole process.
Questions people actually ask
How do you get nail glue off skin?
Soak in warm soapy water for ten minutes and roll the skin apart. Acetone is faster and much harsher.
Is nail glue the same as superglue?
Both are cyanoacrylate. Nail glue is usually formulated a little softer and comes in a brush applicator. Superglue on a nail bonds harder and is far worse to remove.
How long does nail glue last?
One to two weeks on press-ons if the nail was prepped. A day or two if it was not.
Can I glue a broken nail back together?
As a short-term splint, yes, ideally with a fibre repair glue or a silk patch. It buys you a week while it grows out.
