Three products get sold as nail stickers and they behave very differently. Knowing which one is in the packet is most of the decision.
The three types
- Adhesive polish strips. Dry polish on a backing. No lamp, three to seven days, peel off cleanly.
- Semi-cured gel strips. Real gel, partly hardened, finished under a lamp. One to two weeks, acetone removal.
- Decal stickers. Small designs applied over a base you painted yourself, then sealed with topcoat.
If the packet includes or requires a lamp, it is semi-cured gel and it will last twice as long. If it does not, it is dry polish on a backing.
Sheer nude strips
The most natural-looking option.

Semi-sheer off-white.
French strips
A printed smile line, easier than painting one.

Initials on one nail.
Getting them to stick
- Buff the shine off and wipe with alcohol. The same prep as press-ons.
- Size before peeling. A strip slightly too narrow leaves a gap that lifts.
- Press from the centre outwards to push air out.
- File the overhang downward, never outward.
- Topcoat over decals, or they lift within a day.
